Nelson Mandela- President, Social Activist

Nelson Mandela-  revolution lead Nelson Mandela to turn radical division and oppression into open democracy. After 28 years in prison, he had to turn the myth back into the man. He was born in Transkei, a deep back homeland.His childhood was peaceful enough, until the death of his father landed into a powerful relative, the acting agent of the Thembu. He run away from his guardian, and opened up a law firm. Hardship from being black, started a courage and need to do something good for the world. Others wanted a change to, and rallied behind him. He opted for a non-violent way. He joined groups that went for a passive uprising. Mad, the government mounted a massive treason trial that went for 5 years , until all we proved guilty. He then went underground, earning the name the Black Pumpernickel, and upon return, was arrested. He was imprisoned for 5 years. Then he was dragged from jail to face an almost certain death. He fought againstwhite domination, and black domination. He cherished a equal and free society. He fought against the government, and famously, when the warden told him that if he didn’t follow orders he might just be killed, Nelson said” if you touch me, i will take you to the highest court in the world, and leave you as poor as a church mouse”, and the warden backed off. He went to the leaders, and got him to let him out of jail. He finally was made president, but not after scandals with his wife, Winne, who he finally parted, and corruption among his followers. he was now a sadder, wiser, man...

George W. Bush- President

President George W. Bush, President George H.W. Bush’s son, served after Bill Clinton. He married Laura Welsch, a school teacher. He ran against John McCain, and was calm and conservative, and was for cutting taxes, and better schooling. His vice president was the infamous Dick Cheney. He ran against Al Gore who he tried to smear with a guns policy and Taxes. He was elected, and won a 1.34 billion tax cut that helped for a while, then went bad. He wanted to bridge the gap between the Rich-Poor education. It was very counterproductive, with to many tests. He was against the Kyoto protocol, which was to lower fuel emissions. Blamed global warming on animals. He was for Waterboarding, a form of torture. He was criticized for His lack of action during hurricane Katrina, but praised for his action during 9/11. Then he tried to start a war on terrorism, which didn’t really work. He wanted to help Americas middle class, but ended up making it worse. He was born in New Haven, Connecticut, and eventually had four brothers and sisters. Another younger sister, Robin, died of Leukemia at age three.

Bill Clinton- President

Bill Clinton was one of Americans most interesting presidents. His career was very up and downs, from reduced childrens healthcare, to sex scandals with white house workers. He married Hillary Rodham,  and became the governor of Arkansas. He was first pierced as very bad, but after he left office and joined other Higher Offices, he did a lot of good, like better economy, job growth, and better education. He then ran for president, and won, where he was for technology in the White house. He also made laws that for serious medicals needs, paid leaves could be taken, and gay people could be in the armed forces if they kept it a secret. He cut taxes for the poor and raised it for the wealthy. He also had Free Trade. He had a Boom of the US economy, but was almost impeached after lying about have sex with a twenty-two year old white house worker. The tried to capture Osama Bin Laden, but never could. He was a new Way democrat.  Ironically, he was born in Hope, Arkansas, where he at first lived with his grandparents, and then was taken care of by his single mom. His mom remarried, but was abused often. He had seen Martin Luther King Jr. and Jimmy Carter, which got him into politics.


George H.W. Bush- President

George H.W. Bush was a pretty good president. His vice president was Dan Quayle. He was from Milton, Massachusetts where he played both baseball and soccer. This man was important because he faced a very changing world. At first, the berlin wall came down and it was the end to the cold war. The at the end, he faced the newer test. Saddam Hussein’s million man army, which the allied forces routed easily, but was not the end of him. He wanted to stop the soviet union, and then the Arabia area. Another one of his bigger goals was to stop drugs. He was also director of the CIA and vice president. Married Barbara Piece.  


Tim Berners-Lee

     Tim Berers-Lee was an incredible person. He was an inventor of the World Wide Web (WWW). This man's early life  takes place in London, England, 1955. Both of his parents jobs started at mathmeticians, then Tim graduated out of Oxford as a physics major, 1975.
     Then, Tim went on with bar code technology and also his generic language. In 1989, he started gathering notes about this World Wide Web that he will create by his global hyper text project. After completing that the World Wide Web was made, he invented this in early December 1990, and was very popular in late summer 1991.


Ian Wilmut

     Ian Wilmut was born in England. Ian's parents were divorced and he lived with his father. His father lived at the age of fifty and was a mathmatics teacher. All Ian's life was mostly living on a farm and graduated from Nottingham University.
     Ian was the leader researcher for this experiment, which of course was cloning dolly the sheep. Dolly died at age six.


Mariah Carey

Mariah Carey is a well-known 1990s singer. She recorded her first song in 1990. She was born in Long Island, New York. Her parents cared alot for her future but they came to a divorce and went to a beauty school for over 500 hours. According to Billard news, Mariah Carey has had very successful hits. Mariah was married to Tommy Mottola.

Hillary Clinton

This is Hilary Clinton. She was born in park ridge Illinois. In 1969 Hillary entered the Yale law school and she was up for the defense against children fund. She is important because she made a difference for children.

Mark McGwire

This is Mark McGwire. Mark had the best season ever in baseball because he broke the record for most home runs in one season with 61 home runs. He was one of the greatest baseball players in the world apart from hank aaron. He played First base and he played that for 8 years. He retired in 2001.

Michael Jordan

This is Michael Jordan. He was a famous basketball player. He retired in 1998. He was supposedly the best player that basketball has ever seen. He is important because he changed basketball.

Wayne Gretzky

This is Wayne Gretzky. He was nicknamed "The Great One" because he had a record breaking season that blew all other records away. He was important because he was an underdog when he was young and became a wonderdog, he gave young people hope.

Michel Crighton

Michel Crighton was a timeless author that liked to write sci-fy.  He was born October 23 1942 and died November 4 2008.  He wrote many books through out his lifetime but most of his writing was in the 90’s.  He also wrote the classic Jurassic Park about dinosaurs that come to life on a remote island.  

Michel wanted to be a doctor so he went to Harvard and graduated as a doctor in 1965.  All through out his lifetime he wanted to be a writer. When he was a student at Harvard he wrote The Andromeda Strain which became a national best seller when he was only twenty.

~ Jurassic Park; Dinosaurs who come to life on a remote island (1990)

~ Timeline; A time travel story (1999)

~ Airframe; Survival story about a plane accident that kills three injures fifty six and the pilot manages to land the plane (1996)

~ Twister; Another survival story but this time about a giant twister that destroys everything in it’s path and leaves almost nothing (1996)

~ The Lost world; Sequel to Jurassic Park, the only sequel he ever wrote (1995)

~ Rising Sun; A murder case about a beautiful Japanese woman who is found dead with no evidence of the killer (1992)

In conclusion Michel Crighton was a timeless author believed to write some of the only American classics.  He wrote a number of books including Jurassic Park that was made into a movie and was a huge hit.  He was supposed to be a doctor but became a writer.

Benini

Benini was a big artist in the 90’s.  He often did paintings that were mistaken a pictures and played trick on your eyes.  Some of his paintings are studied at universities to find out if they can change your mood or trigger some things in your brain.  He likes to use vivid colors that jump out at you.  

He created the never ending circle illusion that made many circles look like they were a hole on the canvas that never ended.  He started exploring in the 80’s but almost all of his paintings were painted in the 90’s.  He also likes to play around with different styles but mostly sticks with eye illusions.  

In the late 90’s he started to work on a sculpture ranch.  He gets his inspiration from nature and likes to sculpt animals.  He uses mostly silver metal to create his sculptures but there is one that is bright red.  Only one or two of his sculptures are abstract, most of them you can tell what they are.  

In conclusion Benini was a different artist that made people look at art a different way.  He uses paint and a canvas and sometimes sculpts.  He was one of the first to discover different eye illusions.

Spice Girls

The Spice Girls was one of the first all females bands.  The group consisted of five girls; Victoria Becham, Melenie Brown, Emma Burton, Melenie Chsholm and Geri Hawell.  They were the top selling girl band ever recorded.  They are all British.

Their first album “Spice” sold 23 million copies.  They got on the cover or “Rolling Stone” in the late 90’s.  Most all of there work was done in the 90’s.  They went on many tours and were on the cover of many magazines and are sort of like the old Pussy Cat Dolls. Their album released in 1996 sold around 40 million and was brought to 53 different countries. 

Around the late 90’s some members had left them for many different reasons and they were sort of done.  Their farewell tour was in 2007-2008 and sold out in thirty eight seconds.  They sang all of their old songs and left the stage for the last time as the Spice Girls.  

In conclusion the Spice Girls were an all girl band that was a hit in the 90’s.  They only had two albums but were a hit in 53 countries.  They only lasted for ten short years but were one of the most successful bands of all time.
